In European palaces and castles, inviting guests around a table was of extreme social importance.
All the silver glass and porcelain objects used therefore were a reflexion of the power and social position of the Master of the house.
Cooling wine bottles and glasses were part of the ceremonial habits and customs.
A cooler of this dimension is particularly rare and wasn't an easy item to fire, and was therefore of a higher range of price.
Only wealthy European families could acquire and order this kind of object made in the Jing De Zhen kilns in China.
